RESOURCES

Join the Paddler Co-op Staff Team!

For the 2014 season we are seeking:

Open Canoe & Kayak Instructors

Paddler Co-op is a client-focused organization.  We ask that our instructors ensure their programs are geared to the students' needs for a positive, safe, and enjoyable whitewater experience. We strongly encourage individualized instruction that meets the needs of our varied and diversified groups.

At Paddler Co-op we require that all our instructors have a valid Wilderness First Aid certification in addition to Swiftwater Rescue Technician or River Safety and Rescue certification.

ORCKA or Paddle Canada Canoe and/or Kayak Instructor certification is a major asset.  Consideration will be given to those candidates without certification but have received extensive training in whitewater paddling and have valuable experience in whitewater programming.  It is our goal to have all instructors certified in their respective discipline by June 2014.

Instructors are welcome to apply for short or longer-term contracts, ranging from a couple of weeks to months depending on availability.  Preference will be given to those candidates who are willing to commit to longer contracts.

Applicants are asked to send a Letter of Interest highlighting their relevant experience, list of certifications, and why you are interested in a position at Paddler Co-op.  Please also note a preference for teaching beginner, intermediate or advanced courses.

Please apply via email by February 15, 2014 to Kyle Smith at smitters.k@gmail.com

Administrative Assistant & KidActive Coordinator

Paddler Co-op is a client-focused organization that harnesses a very fast-paced environment, catering to the needs of our clients to the very best of our ability.  Whether working on-site, in the office, or on the water an outgoing, welcoming and positive attitude is absolutely necessary.

This position is new for the 2014 season in response to the need for a diversified office environment and a constantly improving KidActive program.  KidActive is our kayaking day-camp tailored to youngsters aged 6-13.  KidActive is the backbone of our family programming and is designed to get kids within the community actively engaged in the outdoors through whitewater paddling and on-site programming.  The focus of this position is to aid in the administrative duties of running a small, not-for-profit organization, and ensuring our KidActive instructors feel the support they need for such an active program.  Responsibilities include: welcoming children and their families to the program; ensuring adequate supervision during drop-off, pick-up, and lunch time when the instructors may enjoy a well deserved break; working with KidActive instructors in on-site program design and delivery such as Nature Scavenger Hunts, Wide-Games, and other group activities; and conducting weekly Instrucor Meetings to discuss the strengths and/or weaknesses of KidActive programming and how it can be improved.

Applicants are asked to send a Letter of Interest highlighting their relevant experience in office administration and/or active outdoor programming, and why you are interested in this position at Paddler Co-op.  Preference will be given to those candidates who exude a positive attitude and an outgoing personality.  Job-specific training will be provided.  This position will start in mid-April and finish August 31 (negotiable), 30-40 hours per week, with two consecutive days off per week (minimum).
