Our two-day introduction to whitewater canoeing will equip you with the basic skills, knowledge and technique to manoeuver competently through simple rapids. We start out refining your flatwater skills and progress to moving water skills, concepts and techniques. The program is paced to your particular needs and abilities.
Let it be known: whitewater canoeing is addictive. These fun two days are just a taste of your paddling adventures to come.
Locations: We run our intro clinics at Palmer Rapids on the Madawaska river. The water is warm and clean and the variety of rapids are appropriate for developing new skills. Camping is conveniently located on our private site next to the river. Alternatively, there is an excellent B&B about 15 minutes down the road.
Dates for 2013: These courses run every weekend from May to October.
Weekday programs are booked upon demand. Gather your friends and organise your own whitewater intro or book into a scheduled clinic. We need only three people to book a custom course.
Course cost: 2 day course $280.00 + Membership $5.00 + HST. Equipment and canoes are provided in addition to an excellent instructor.
ORCKA Certification: ORCKA (Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association, provincially recognized) Level 1/1A, 2/2A certifications are available on all of our courses—just let us know ahead of time. Level 1A or 2A (tandem) are two day courses. If you are interested in the full Level 1 or 2 (tandem and solo), ORCKA requires four days of instruction and assessment.
