Our base of operations is located at a beautiful site on the shore of the Madawaska River in Palmer Rapids, Ontario, just down stream of the second set of Palmer Rapids.
The Boathouse features woodland and riverside campsites amid majestic pines and a strong sense of community.
On site we have warm running water for washing up located behing the office and classy new outhouses. You can join other campers at the communal campfire pit down by the beach or use our BBQ located behind the office (a donation towards propane is welcome). We continue to update our indoor classroom and communal 'Paddlers Lounge', making our site an ideal teaching and learning environment.
Most participants on our courses choose to camp. However, if camping if not your thing, then we are able to highly recommend B & B’s, lodges, and motels in the area.
Camping at our site works on a first-come, first-served basis and is available to all members throughout the season (May through October). No formal booking is required. The only weekend we are fully booked is during Palmer River Fest (May long weekend). You are more than welcome to pitch a tent anywhere on our two acres of land.
Keep in mind that whether or not you’re taking a course with us, you are welcome to camp at our site. All camping gear and food are up to you for the duration of your stay with us.
The cost is $8/night/person. We adjust the cost for large groups- just give us a call and let us know you’re coming. We also offer a family rate of $20/night/family.
There are a couple of good B & Bs and other accomodations in the area if camping is not your thing. Call us for up to date recommendations. 613 758 2772.
