Transitional Kayak: Beyond the Basics
River trips are the perfect opportunity to discover what a whitewater goldmine Ontario really is. Our instruction focuses on refining your technique and introducing new moves and skills to get you navigating yourself safely and effectively. Our instructors take the time to show you safe river running procedures and how to set up basic rescue systems. Ultimately we want you to have the confidence and expertise to be running these rivers yourself.
Skills at the intermediate level may also focus on playboating or technical paddling. Typically we use one or two waves/holes or a short section of whitewater to demonstrate, practice and improve skills and maneuvers.
Our intermediate programs are designed with one purpose—to help you achieve your own paddling goals. Intermediate development takes place in two ways: river trips and skills clinics.
Location: We run most of our transitional courses here in Palmer Rapids on the Madawaska River. The water is warm and the variety of rapids are appropriate for honing skills. Camping is conveniently located on our private site near the rapids or there are excellent Bed & Breakfast options nearby for non-campers.
Dates for 2013: These courses run every weekend from May to October. To sign up please see our calendar
