River Safety and Rescue [RSR]
This nationally recognised certification has been developed by paddlers and instructors across Canada and is highly relevant to kayakers and canoeists. RSR is a 2-day program that introduces course participants to safety and rescue theories, procedures and techniques that are effective in contributing to safe and enjoyable river travel.
We address common rescue scenarios and emphasize effective ways to avoid getting into difficult or dangerous situations. The program centres around learning and practising skills and techniques in self rescue, shore based throwline rescues, boat based rescues, entrapments, boat pins and simple mechanical advantage systems for ropes. We use equipment that is easily carried by all paddlers and maintain the important perspective of personal and group safety at all times.
Paddling is fun!, lets keep it that way - get trained - paddle safe.

Rescue SBP [Scenario Based Program]
This is an 'in house' experiential program for paddlers with previous rescue training and an interest in maintaining their skills and ability to respond effectively to rescue scenarios.
SBP or Simulation Based Practice is the single most important way of maintaining your rescue capabilities. We practice self rescue, shore based rope rescues and boat based rescues through a progression of simulations. Utilising our collective experiences we develop more complex scenarios that involve both individual skills and group approaches. Challenging and fun, we run these programs at your pace.
These two day programs are scheduled to run when the water temperature is reasonable and river levels are favourable. Gather your paddling gear, repack your throwline and round up your paddling friends.
* An ideal program for paddling clubs and organisations. Please contact us for customised arrangements.
